The Division 2 has been out for more than a year now, and we’ve seen it discounted on PS4, Xbox One, and PC many times. It was even on sale for only $3 earlier this year leading up to the release of the Warlords of New York expansion. But if you’ve held out and are still curious about Ubisoft’s excellent third-person shooter, you can now play a nice little chunk of the base game for free on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
Ubisoft is offering a free trial for The Division 2 on all platforms. Simply head over to the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, Epic Games Store, or Uplay and download “Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 Trial.” After downloading, you’ll be able to play up to level 8 for a maximum of eight hours free of charge. If you’re playing on console, you’ll need a PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold subscription to play cooperatively with friends.
The game’s trial version is available on the Microsoft store, PlayStation Store, Epic Games Store and Ubisoft’s own Uplay app. The Division 2 has an expansion pack too called Warlords of New York but that is not free. And if you want to buy The Division 2 Credits, visit z2u.com, a professional online in-game currency store.
In the game, your job as a member of the elite Division force (composed of civilian agents) is to seize control of Washington DC and prevent it from decaying into a state of lawlessness. The Division is the last line of defence against forces of anarchy and instability. The factions who stand against your elite team are the True Sons, Hyenas, Outcasts and Black Tusk.
The trial experience ends there, though if you choose to purchase The Division 2 you’ll be able to pick up your progress right where you left off. Also keep in mind that any time you may have put into The Division 2 in previous free weekend events will already count toward that eight hour cap.
