Madden NFL 18 Update Biggest Changes Made

A new update is now live in “Madden NFL 18″ which focuses on some pretty major gameplay changes. EA published the update on their website on Nov. 21, complete with the full patch notes.

One of the major changes in the latest update is that developers added logic on all Game Styles so that players who manage to perform a “Perfect Kick” will no longer be kick-blocked. To execute this move, Kick Power must be at 100 percent while the Accuracy Meter must be “stopped within the kicker’s accuracy window.”

Also, to those players who use the move “Pump Fake” often, it is now controlled with the left stick. Before, “pump fake” was controlled by pushing the right stick up. So, it might take a while to get used to. The reason for this was to remove players’ tendency to execute a “Pump Fake” accidentally when trying to throw the ball away.

Other major updates in gameplay include: “Adjusted pass blockers being hurdled too frequently by defenders; Fixed an issue that removed the VICIS helmets from offline CFM; Adjusted logic around QB Contain defensive assignment; adjusted logic around QB Contain defensive assignment, and Tuned to improve tackling ball carriers during broken tackle animations.”

The developers also noted in the patch that they are aware of the issue in Franchise mode where PlayStation 4 players sometimes encounter a lag when playing. Although the issue has not been fixed yet, the developers promised players that the issue is their top priority and will be resolved as soon as possible.

In other news, “Madden NFL 18″ is one of the video game titles to be included in the upcoming Black Friday sale. Although prices may vary depending on the retailer, prospective buyers will be promised a good deal in the amount of discount they are going to get.

Still, the availability of the game during Black Friday depends on the stock that retailers have in hand. So, players who want to get their hands on the latest “Madden NFL” must take advantage of the big sale on Black Friday.

Best Young Defenses To Build Your Madden 18 Franchise Around

One of the best aspects of Connected Franchise Mode (CFM) is customizing your roster and rebuilding your team. The pros at Madden School spend as much time studying CFM as they do competitive H2H gameplay. We’ve already given you our best young offenses to build around, and our 5 best teams to rebuild in Madden’s CFM. So today, we wanted to give you our best young defenses to build your Madden 18 franchise around.

Building a good defense in Madden 18’s CFM takes time and work. You’ll want to start with a nice young crop of defensive players when first starting out. Ideally, you’ll want at least one young up and coming player at every level of your defense. Basically, that means you should look for a promising young D Lineman, Linebacker, and DB (corner or safety) when deciding on which defense to build your franchise around.

Remember, offense scores points, but defense wins championships.

Chicago Bears

The Bears defense is filled with young talent with plenty of potential. The Chicago D possesses all of the necessary elements of an up and coming, young defense. They have good young talent at nearly every level, but especially in their secondary. The defensive front 7 is loaded with decent players, but LOLB Leonard Floyd is truly starting to emerge as a nice young pass rusher and is rated a 77 overall in only his second season. This seems sort of low considering he had some big plays so far this season.

CB Kyle Fuller, FS Eddie Jackson, and SS/FS Adrian Amos are three young players with potential and talent. They ‘re all 25 and younger with ratings of at least 78. Another secondary player, CB Bryce Callahan, is also a nice young talented cornerback who is only 25-years-old and rated a 78. That’s four young players to build a stout secondary around. Undoubtedly, the Bears have plenty of young defensive talent.

Key Young Players: Eddie Jackson FS, Leonard Floyd LOLB, Eddie Goldman DT, Kyle Fuller CB

Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons defense is absolutely loaded with great young talent. Most of their young players on defense have already achieved decent overall ratings in Madden 18. The Falcons linebackers are arguably the fastest and youngest group of linebackers in the game. OLB Vic Beasley, MLB Deion Jones, and OLB De’vondre Campbell are all under the age of 25, and they all boast overall ratings higher than an 81.

When it comes to the secondary, the Falcons have one of the best young safeties in the game with SS Keanu Neal. Atlanta certainly has one of the best young defenses to build around in Madden 18.

Key Young Players: Grady Jarrett DT, Vic Beasley Jr LOLB/LE, Deion Jones MLB, Keanu Neal SS

San Francisco 49er’s

San Francisco had an excellent draft on defense this past year, giving them plenty of young talent in Madden 18. The additions of MLB Reuben Foster and RE Solomon Thomas really boosted the 49’er defensive front 7. DT Deforest Buckner is already rated a 90 overall in only his second season.

The Frisco secondary is middle of the road in terms of overall ratings, but they have a great young SS in Jaquiski Tartt. Tartt was winner in the week 6 ratings update, and our prediction is that his overall will continue to rise. Tartt is only 25 and is in his third season.

Key Young Players: Reuben Foster MLB, Solomon Thomas RE, Deforest Buckner DT, Jaquiski Tartt SS

Something You Need to Know When Playing Madden NFL 18 Franchise Mode

Madden NFL 18 is upon us, which means that eager football fans will soon start their journey in franchise mode. Over the years, EA Sports has gradually added more depth, allowing players to tinker with every aspect of the NFL season. While this has been great for diehard football fans, the level of detail may bog down some of the more casual players. No worries, though — we’ve got you covered: here’s how to become a Madden NFL 18 franchise mode master, along with explanations on playing as a sole player or controlling the team as an owner.

1

Traditional franchise

You have options for Madden NFL 18 franchise mode, but most players will likely spend the majority of their time in franchise mode within the traditional “Coach” role. You make all of the decisions an NFL head coach makes, and technically “play” as the coach, but when game time comes around, you play Madden as you’re accustomed to — controlling every facet of the in-game experience.

You can either take the helm of a current NFL team or draft a custom team from scratch. If you choose to go the latter route, check out the tips below, otherwise skip to the bottom section for general franchise mode tips.

General franchise tips

Weekly training: Each week before a game, you have the opportunity to train the offense and defense with skills exercises. The game automatically selects a skills training that is beneficial for the upcoming opponent, but you still have choices to make. You can select three focus players who will gain the most experience from the exercise. Generally, up and coming players like rookies or burgeoning stars should be your focus players. You have the option to simulate the training and still receive experience points, but you will receive the greatest reward by actually playing the exercises and achieving a Silver or Gold rank.

Upgrade attributes: After each game, a list of players with available attribute upgrades displays on screen. The game recommends attributes to upgrade, but sometimes you may want to go rogue and choose a different option. Usually we opt for upgrading the player’s lowest attribute value.

Pay attention to goals: To spice things up, players have individual weekly goals which, when reached, dole out bonus experience points. To check your weekly goals, simply click on any player in the team menu and scroll over to “Weekly Goals.” Players also have season and milestone goals, which you can build on throughout the course of the season.

How to draft a quality team

To build a custom team, simply open a new franchise in the cloud and choose a team. Then, in the “Starting Point” setting, choose Fantasy Draft.

In real life, the NFL Draft has seven rounds. In Madden NFL 18, since you’re filling out an entire active roster, be prepared for a 53-round draft. For the first few rounds, you’ll have a minute and a half to pick a player, but as the rounds pass, your time to make a pick will drop down to 45 seconds.

To build a successful Madden roster, you need to be smart in the draft. So how should you allocate your picks?

For the first few rounds at least, there’s a general formula. With your first round pick, we recommend drafting the highest rated QB available. You have no control over the draft order so your pick could come at the beginning, midway, or at the end of each round. In the second round, go for either an offensive linemen or a defensive linemen. Whichever one of those you don’t select in the second round, you should pick up in the third round. In the fourth round, you should still be able to snag an elite running back. In the fifth, shoot for a cornerback or an elite wide receiver. Whichever you don’t take in the fifth, pick that position up in the sixth.

As for how many players you should have at each position, follow these rough guidelines, but you can tweak it to taste and player availability. There’s no single, optimal composition. You can check out all current NFL rosters to see variations of the breakdown.

MUT Guide – Upgrading Players

If you go over to the ‘Team’ tab in the Ultimate Team segment of Madden 18, you’ll find the ‘Upgrade Sets’ option near the bottom of the display. There are a variety of options in this segment, however the one that you would like to be focusing on first is the ‘Upgrades’ area.

Pick the ‘Players’ choice after this, and then choose from AFC or NFC, depending on which team you’re after. For Instance, when I picked the Colts pack at the Start of Ultimate Team, I had been given a 70 OVR Vontae Davis, which I can now upgrade to 75, and then 84 OVR, but just having a few key items.

Tips and Tricks

The 4 players you upgraded in the previous section can all be upgraded a further 2 times each. You can unlock their tier 2 and tier 3 versions if you have the prior version unlocked. Tier 2 version requires tier 1 combined with 5 players (70-74) and 5 gamers (75-79) and lastly a silver token + gold market, this way your player’s overall should be close to the low 80s by now.

Tier 3 is the previous tier you are able to upgrade to, to take action you want the grade 2 version of the participant, all 3 components (Gold, Gold, and Base Elite). This upgrade gives you 1 point higher overall compared to the player’s core elite overall and then your upgrading is complete.

One more thing to keep in mind is that when you begin the game, an LDT is awarded to you free of charge and you’ll be able to purchase packs with LDT tokens to upgrade him 1 point at a time.

Best Players to Upgrade

So, obtaining Team Tokens is by no means a simple job, so as soon as you’ve got hold of a few, which players should you prioritise upgrading over others?

For starters, you definitely need to go for skill position players, over any players on the offensive or defensive lines. Skill players definitely have a larger impact on your average game of Madden than some other gamers, to it is ideal to go with quarterbacks, running backs, tight ends, wide receivers, cornerbacks, and safeties over any other positions.

Once you do that just to level up your Ultimate Level enough so that you can access MUT Squads. This tutorial may be boring for the returning players, because it is pretty much the same thing every year.

Just select your role on this screen and then invite other two friends to fill the rest of the roles. Once you make it to the MUT Squad Lobbies you will have the option to choose between Head Coach, Defense or Offense. The Head Coach player will use their stadium, head coach card and team uniforms. Each of these role operate according to the sound, but there are some precautions. If you have any penalties in your game, then you can also choose how to deal with it,  the Head Coach is allowed to play any position except for the quarterback and kicker.

As expected, the Defense Captain call the defensive players and timeouts on defense. The Offense Captain calls the plays on offense and will most commonly assume the role of the Quarterback. The Offense Captain enters their ultimate team along with their offensive playbook.  The Defense Captain brings in their Ultimate Team defense and playbook.

There is one thing we need warn you, once you get online, you will see some very unbalanced teams. If you want to make a random matchmaking, this may be more of an issue. You may encounter a high-intensity offense, but a very scary defensive lineup. If you are playing with friends, then you should have a good idea of who is good at what and who has the best roster for a given situation.

Will Madden 18 be Available on PC?

Since all of EA’s games are moving to the Frostbite engine will we see another Madden game come to the PC?

Madden 18

EA did a interview back in July and stated that the reason why they stopped porting Madden to PC was because of poor sales. The last Madden game to release on PC was Madden 08 back in 2007. It’s come up to 10 years since we’ve seen a Madden game on PC.

EA’s excuse is lack of sales, but PC gaming has evolved so much since then. Steam has exploded to be the number 1 PC gaming platform by a very large margin. Nothing comes close and I believe that a Madden game would make the top selling games list on Steam if it were to be released.

Madden 08 was a okay Madden game. It got decent review scores from major review sites back then, but it wasn’t the best Madden game. It’s poor sales on PC prove that, but it’s been heavily modded for 9 years now because of the lack of Madden games that we have on PC.

EA said that they’re open to the idea because the Frostbite Engine makes it easier for them to port games and I’m really hoping that they give it some serious thought because I’m not going to buy a console to play my sports games anymore. I’m done with console gaming so if I have to miss out on my Madden games I’ll just have to accept it. The last Madden game I played was 15 and it was good, but lacked a lot of features.

When consider how much Steam has grown in the last 10 years it would be crazy not to take advantage of it and make more games on it. Even if you don’t use Steam it would still sale in my opinion. I think Origin is a great platform too. Most people hate it because it’s EA’s version of Steam, but I have no problems with it. I own over 20 games on Origin.

Give Madden another shot on PC. It’s been too long and I think it would sell well on PC. It won’t outsell it’s console counterparts, but I think it would do well enough to become a regular thing on PC. What do you think? Should Madden come to PC?
